We purchased a vintage Steinway L for our daughter from my special piano about five years ago. Our daughter was playing on the Yamaha upright and was making decent progress and showed considerable talent. Her teacher indicate that if she play on a grand, her progress would increase more rapid. This has certainly been the case. The piano  we purchase was checked out by a Steinway specialist. I studied with Suzanne and Chuck for over 12 years.  Chuck taught me how to improvise and think creatively at the piano. He also taught me classical and jazz repertoire.  This helped me win a number of competitions. Suzanne taught me to appreciate the structure of music.  They are a tremendous combination.  If you are looking for a tremendous teacher combo, you should talk with them.  Suzanne's students routinely go to Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, and Yale.   You wont be disappointed.  I studied with both of them - Suzanne first and Chuck later.  Chuck is full of inspiration  and really understands how to express music at the deepest level. Suzanne is a fantastic resource and gave me a tremendous framework. She has gotten her students into all the major universities. She knows how to package the application process and with her connections, her students always seem to do extremely well. I know that recently she arranged a live audition for another of her students at Stanford University and her student was once again accepted as an undergraduate student... thanks to her live audition.   I went on to Stanford but always kept music going while I was there.  I now have 7 CDs out and love music dearly.  I am also a business consultant so I have the best of both worlds.   -- C.S.
